It dictates our routine and structures social rules. We hope in its healing power as much as we fear its abrasive touch.
The effort to capture time is a spectrum – from stone circles, alarm and cuckoo clocks, to the Prague astronomical clock. We measure it in cuts and turned pages. We carry it in pockets or on wrists in the shape of the fruit of the detailed and delicate work of watchmakers. This film shows the field, enjoying deserved admiration, through the lens of craftsmen, collectors, physicists, and philosophers.
