How has the university transformed the city? And how has the city influenced the university in turn?

The university in Olomouc was founded in 1573. For two hundred years, it was led by the Jesuit order. The coexistence of the Jesuits and other monks and students in Olomouc with the local burghers created a particular dynamic of life and the resulting image of this urban organism. The university had its supporters, benefactors, and protectors, as well as its enemies and opponents. The celebrations of this year’s 400th anniversary of the presentation of the remains of the Christian martyr, patron against plague and protector of Olomouc, Saint Paula, prove that some of the old university traditions have not been swept away by the winds of time
