Falošná veda / Fake Science

|Sections||Czech & Slovak Competition|
Interviews with scientists and academics along with investigative reporting point to the growing market of scientific credibility, and its consequences for medicine as well as the Slovak scientific environment. Curing osteoarthritis with stem cell injections, and the company which provides this service, are an example which illustrates the growing business of scientific guarantees in this Slovak documentary film. The creators map out predatory magazines: professional scientific periodicals which, for a fee, offer publishing even to studies which do not always pass a serious journal’s peer review. Sometimes, they outline complete medical procedures – such as the one with stem cells used to cure osteoarthritis.
