Hranice poznání / The Most Unknown

In Ian Cheney’s narrative documentary, nine top scientists meet in a relay-race-like fashion and introduce their fields, from microbiology to psychology to neuroscience to astronomy. What is time? How did the universe begin? How much do we really know? They’ve never met before, but they share the same drive to find the answers to the most pressing of questions. Whether they are at the bottom of the ocean, in a night sky observatory, or face to face with monkeys, they immerse themselves in one another’s research. This unique film experiment shows that despite devoting their lives to broadening the horizons of human knowledge, these scientists haven’t mutated into mad scientist stereotypes, but have remained human.
