“You don’t need guns to fight. You can fight with paper and a pen. That was one of the most effective forms of resistance. Leave a time capsule saying: You failed to kill us.” The American docudrama Who Will Write Our History tells the story of the Ringelblum Archive, a secret stash of thousands of rare documents found under a Warsaw Ghetto. The Jewish working group Oneg Shabbat started to collect the materials on the life of Jews in the ghetto, the ongoing Holocaust, and history of a nation that was almost wiped out. In the summer of 1942, these materials were successfully buried during the first deportations of the ghetto. The documents were discovered in the Warsaw ruins after the war in 1946.
