Stanislav Biler: České mýty / Stanislav Biler: Czech Myths

History is just a cluster of random events without any interlinks. Suppose we cannot predict any event. This also implies that we cannot make any statements about past events that were meant to happen, because they were not. Comparably, there is no need for Czech people to pick random stories from our history to create national mythologies. The random choice of myths we take as a source for our national history basically prove only one thing - our lack of imagination. We lack the courage to imagine a reasonable past as well as a sensible future, as in our collective mind, the future resembles the present. Which means it’s bleak. But, of course, with better roads.
