Vít Lucuk: Zapomenuté osady na Jesenicku / Vít Lucuk: Forgotten settlements in Jeseník region

The Czechoslovak borderlands in the Jeseník Region used to be one of the relatively well-populated areas. Although the population map changed over hundreds of years, almost no one stayed in this region after WWII. It has never been easy to live in the borderlands. The solid terrain and challenging conditions for cattle breeding and cultivation of crops deterred many potential inhabitants. Yet, there were many who actually moved to the border with Poland and prospered relatively well. But at the end of WWII, most of the population had to leave because of their German nationality. They left behind not only their land, but almost everything on it. The settlement has changed into ruins and the village life into memories.
