Závisláci / Reefer Madness

Cannabis as Public Enemy No. 1. More addictive than heroin, more dangerous than rising Nazism, and in the hands of children. The cult educational and exploitation film follows a group of high school students who, after a few puffs, fall into an endless spiral of madness. The paradox of propaganda is that it must be invisible to succeed. In Louis J. Gasnier’s film of 1936, agitation is hidden behind a dreadful script and tragically ridiculous acting. Reefer Madness is referred to as the worst film in history and shows us what a propaganda film on a topic about which the filmmakers knew nothing about looks like. Watch with an ironical grin the carnival which terrified parents in the 1930s.
