Mirror is the latest work of the British artist Vicki Bennett aka People Like Us who has been creating audio-visual collages since 1991 and is one of the sampling scene leaders. Bennett focuses on the manipulation and recreation of original sources from pop music, film and radio. In 2006, she was the first artist to be granted unlimited access to the BBC archives. Mirror combines more than 300 films with unique sampling and, rather than a story or moment, is a constantly changing stream of sounds and images. It shows one of the forms of contemporary remix culture and makes us wonder – will this be the audio-visual language of the third millennium? An unconventional immersive projection as part of the AFO (midnight) programme.
