Programme Tips #5: The AFO Weekend is here!

At 9:00, a guided walk entitled Immersion: Between Nature and the City starts at the Konvikt entrance. Biodiversity expert Barbora Chmelová will take the participants to places in Olomouc where nature and urbanism meet. At 12:30, Kateřina Poláková will give the lecture Science Journalism in the Fields in the Czech Television Film Hall. The Czech Television presenter will introduce the audience to the everyday work of people who decide to dedicate their work to science journalism. The Industry 4Science section offers a great Saturday programme as well. At 14:00, the Corpus Christi Chapel will host the pitch meeting of inspiring scientific projects Sparks 4Science, where the individual projects receive feedback from the film industry, and you can be there to witness it!

The AFO International Competition features Sally, a film about the first female American astronaut to go into space, Sally Ride. This documentary, showing a critical look at the status of women in the conquest of space and American society in general, screens at 19:00 at Central Cinema. Savanna and the Mountain deals with corporate responsibility and civic activism. The story of a defiant struggle of one Portuguese village community against the construction of a nearby lithium mine covers serious topics with a healthy dose of humour. You can see for yourselves at 21:00 in the Czech Television Film Hall.

The exceptional Music Is Science programme also reaches its finale on Saturday. The Full Moon Stage will give the spotlight to OGmiaG with her poetic rap at 21:00, followed by Slovak rapper Temný Rudo at 22:00. The follow-up DJs will be there to keep everybody dancing until the morning to give a proper farewell to the 60th anniversary of Academia Film Olomouc, which brought an avalanche of unique programming unmatched in its concentration in the Czech Republic and abroad.
