Candela Sotos

Artist and filmmaker

Candela Sotos (Madrid, 1986) obtained a master’s degree in Photography and Contemporary Art from Paris VIII University and joined the Artists’ Programme at Torcuato di Tella University in Buenos Aires. Her work explores the forms of official historical discourse and memory through different mediums: botanical practice, archives and moving images. She has presented her work in exhibitions and festivals such as CRA Matadero Madrid, Cineteca, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Centro Cultural de la Memoria Haroldo Conti (Buenos Aires), Fundación Cerezales FCAYC, Centro Pompidou Málaga and Fundación Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. She has participated in projects such as the First Latin American School on the Urban Anthropocene. Her first feature film, Yrupẽ (2025), was presented at the Visions du Réel (Nyon), SEMINCI (Valladolid), and Cinespaña (Toulouse) festivals, among others.
