MgA. Lucie Kralova, Ph.D. is an acclaimed Czech film director, scriptwriter, dramaturgist and lecturer at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) focused on creative docs for 20 years.
Her films were screened at many international festivals, in cinemas, TVs, VODs and received a number of awards. Three times, she won the prestigious award for Best Czech Documentary of the year at IDFF Jihlava (2022 KAPRCODE, 2005 SOLD, 2003 ILL-FATED CHILD). Her documentary detective story, LOST HOLIDAY (2007), distributed internationally on 35mm, received the Crystal Globe for Best Feature Doc at A-category Karlovy Vary IFF. Lucie also works as dramaturgist on significant documentaries like CAUGHT IN THE NET (2020) by Klusák/Chalupová, the most successful Czech doc in cinemas ever. Her recent documentary opera KAPRCODE was premiered within Burning Lights Competition at Vision du Reel, got Golden Heynal for Best Music Documentary at Krakow International Film Festival, was awarded as Best Czech Documentary film 2022 by Czech film critics and got 3 nominations from Czech Film Academy. Lucie is also author of studies focusing on documentaries and the book “Understanding Television” (2022), ethnography based research on power mechanisms within Czech most important public broadcaster, Czech TV.
