Marek Kroupa

A skateboarder and construction worker who combines his professional experience in building skateparks with community work in Olomouc.

Marek Kroupa has been skateboarding since the turn of the millennium. He divides his professional life between working on construction sites for the Slovak company Sketon Skateparks and serving as a technician for the Department of Social Affairs at the Olomouc City Hall. He contributes to the operation of the Olomouc DIY space SF MINI, a venue for skateboarding and the independent music scene. As part of a self-help community, he has collaborated on urban interventions, one of which that has survived to this day is, for example, a DIY skate spot in an abandoned parking lot near Baumax. He is a member of the ZaSkejt association, which works with local government to address conditions for skateboarding. He is interested in the cultural and social implications of skateboarding and its integration into urban infrastructure.
