Pavel Suchan

He is mainly dedicated to the popularization of astronomy and light pollution.

Pavel Suchan is a popularizer of astronomy, within his work he is also promoting the results achieved by the staff of the Astronomical Institute of the CAS. He also focuses on the protection of observing conditions at the Ondřejov Observatory and more broadly on the issue of light pollution, or the protection of the night environment – for example, he is a member of the Interdepartmental Working Group led by the Ministry of the Environment. He started his astronomical career at the Petřín Observatory in Prague and since 2004 he has been working at the Astronomical Institute of the CAS as a press secretary and spokesman. He enjoys giving lectures not only for adults but also for children. He is the recipient of several awards and is also an honorary member of the International Astronomical Union. He spent three tours of the Czech Republic with the American astronaut Andrew Feustel, who took the Space Songs and also the Mole the Astronaut into orbit around the Earth.
