Václav Smička

He worked in the mines as a miner and helped set up the mining rescue exhibition at the Mining Museum in Ostrava-Petřkovice.

Václav Smička trained as a miner for the Československý pionýr mine in Petřvald. In 1968, he graduated from the Secondary Industrial School of Mining on a scholarship and worked in the mine as a miner in the longwall and as a shift foreman until 1977. After a work-related injury in 1977, he transferred to the human resources department as a clerk responsible for the recruitment and training of apprentices. In 1986, he joined the Main Mine Rescue Station as an independent clerk for education, training, and tactics. From 2002 until his retirement in 2014, he served as the head of this department. Since 2002, he has actively participated in the creation of the mining rescue exhibition at the Mining Museum in Ostrava-Petřkovice, where he continues to work as a guide.
