Tribute

Let’s commemorate the icons connecting the worlds of film, science and gaming! We will pay tribute to the 90th birthday of Jane Goodall, to the 50th anniversary of the first edition of Dungeons & Dragons and to the legacy of Cormac McCarthy.

This section is devoted to prominent personalities who connect the worlds of film and science through their work. In honour of Jane Goodall’s 90th birthday, we will remember the invaluable contribution of this iconic scientist and activist. Through film, we’ll also celebrate the intellectual legacy of esteemed writer Cormac McCarthy. McCarthy spent the last decade of his life as an active member of the Santa Fe Institute, a multidisciplinary research centre dedicated to the theoretical study of complex adaptive systems. In a Czech premiere, we will feature Cormac McCarthy’s Veer by Polish director and physicist Karol Jalochowski, an experimental documentary capturing McCarthy’s dialogue with scientist and Institute President David Krakauer. Also, the legendary pen-and-paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons celebrates 50 years. AFO is offering a unique opportunity for a chosen few to immerse themselves in an original campaign!
