This smaller programme section will focus in more detail on an activity that is as natural to most of humanity as, for example, breathing. Walking on two legs, or bipedalism, is one of the first typical features of modern man that can be identified in fossil records and a certain evolutionary advantage for humankind, whose bipedalism freed up the forelimbs for new purposes. Moreover, regular, conscious or deliberate walking is not only health-promoting but also has a social, environmental, cognitive and philosophical or spiritual dimension. Through several documentaries and lectures, we will reflect on this seemingly dull phenomenon and its multidimensional significance in our lives.
