Martin Abel

Lawyer and analyst specializing in climate and energy policy

Martin Abel studied law at the University of Oxford and Charles University, where he earned his Ph.D. Since 2019, he has been applying his legal expertise to the decarbonization of the economy, particularly the energy sector. He founded the Agrivoltaics Club, which sought to legalize the dual use of land for agriculture and energy. In the past, he led Climate Lawsuit, an association that successfully sued the state in the Municipal Court in Prague for inaction in mitigating climate change. He has also devoted analytical work to biofuels and hydrogen. He is currently working on defining so-called “acceleration zones” for the rapid development of renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic and the related changes in legislation and land-use planning. He is the author of a blog on Substack titled Zóna zlomu.
