Application Guidelines 2024

Please read the following Camp 4Science – Application Guidelines carefully.

 

1. APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 31, 2024 (applying is free of charge)

1.1 Filled-out online application form has to be submitted by January 31, 2024. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

2. THERE IS NO SUBMISSION AND NO PARTICIPATION FEE

2.1 Camp 4Science covers accommodation (1 double room) for the whole period of the workshop for each of the selected projects.
2.2 Camp 4Science also helps with travel expenses.
2.3 The organizers collect 120 EUR/person as a catering fee that will cover the cost of everyday lunches and coffee breaks. During most of the evenings, there will catering available for the participants at the networking events. The Catering fee will be collected in cash (Czech Crowns) on the first day of the workshop (3 000 CZK).
 
2.4 Camp 4Science workshop will be held in Olomouc, Czech Republic during AFO (April 22 – 28, 2024).
 
3. WHAT PROJECTS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

3.1 Documentary projects in development. We are open to creative feature-length films, TV 52’, shorts or series as well as VR experiences and projects with online and game potential.

3.2 We welcome participants familiar with documentary film production and industry who are willing to learn more about the diverse ways to approach science.

3.3 At the same time, we welcome participants with the science communication experience who would like to enter the world of documentary filmmaking and learn about its rules and creative possibilities.

4. KEY DATES

Application deadline: January 31, 2024

Publication of results: late February

Workshop dates: April 22 – 28, 2024 (during AFO in Olomouc).

5. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

5.1 Proficiency in English

5.2 Requested materials submitted prior to the deadline

5.3 The team (director and producer) has to take an active part in all the workshop stages.

5.4 Exceptions to the conditions mentioned above can be decided only prior to the selection process. Please contact Bára with such requests at camp@afo.cz.

6. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

6.1 Please note that the following materials will be required to complete the application:

  • Logline
  • Short synopses (max. 250 characters) and long synopsis (max. 4000 characters)
  • Treatment (max. 8000 characters)
  • Director´s Statement (max. 4000 characters)
  • Trailer, sample video
  • Simple budget (the selected participants will be asked to provide a more detailed budget prior to the workshop)
  • Director´s and producer´s photo
  • Stills or other visual material (animation or graphic elements) related to the project

7. DATA PROTECTION

By submitting a project, you accept our data protection policy in accordance with the GDPR.

8. CONCLUSION

By submitting a project the applicant agrees with all the above-mentioned regulations.
