Dozens of international and czech scientific documentaries – what awaits the audience in the AFO competition sections?

10. 3. 2022

One of the traditionally most attractive branches of Academia Film Olomouc finally knows its shape for the 57th edition of the festival! As every year, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the best new scientific documentaries in three competition categories.

We have documentaries from all over the world in the International Competition, domestic contributions to the popularisation of science in the Czech&Slovak Competition, and last but not least, the Short Film Competition, in which there are often subtle but all the more powerful surprises.

The selection is again truly varied and wide. You will learn more about the specific films and potential highlights of this year as the festival approaches, but we can already tell you that all competitions together have 57 films! The International Competition has 30 pieces competing against each other this year, the Czech&Slovak Competition has ten contenders for the best domestic popular science documentary, and the Short Film Competition has 17 diverse films.

Their complete list and the form of the individual competition sections can be found below. So let’s thank the excellent programming team, who, as every year, have immersed themselves in the waters of contemporary popular science film for several months and selected the best that is currently available in this sector for you. Come and see for yourself between 26 April and 1 May and take the opportunity to vote for the film you liked best. Because once again, the AFO Audience Award is in your hands and yours alone!
