Vít Janeček

Director, writer and producer and mentor

He graduated from the School of Philosophy of the Charles University in Prague and from FAMU. He has curated film programs in 90s (in Prague’s Roxy, Archa Theater and historical retrospectives at several editions of IFF Karlovy Vary). At FAMU co-found and first years lead FAMU Center for Audiovisual Studies, one term he worked as the Head of FAMU International. In 2012 found and has led till today FAMU Summer Filmmaking Campus. Since 2005 has lead educational project in Myanmar, as part of he produced full length film The Monk (by The Maw Naing, 2014, CZ/MM) and continues in his activities in the region. Since 2014 produces films within Prague based D1film and since 2019 also Bratislava based VIRUSfilm productions, co-run with his wife Zuzana Piussi. Last productions are The Ordeal (2021) wining minor award at Ji.hlava IDFF, Housing Against Everyone (2021) with minor award at One World IFF, At Full Throttle (2021) released at main competition in Karlovy Vary IFF and getting several awards at following festivals, and full length fiction The Unbalanced just before confirmed release at a A category IFF.
