Application Guidelines 2026

Please read the following Camp 4Science – Application Guidelines carefully.

 

1. APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 22, 2026 (applying is free of charge)

1.1 Filled-out online application form has to be submitted by July 22, 2026. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

2. THERE IS NO SUBMISSION AND NO PARTICIPATION FEE

2.1 Camp 4Science covers accommodation (1 double room) for the whole period of the workshop (both residencies) for each of the selected projects.
2.2 Camp 4Science also helps with travel expenses.
 
2.3 Camp 4Science will be held in Czechia: 
  • fall residency workshop will be held in Statek Salajna (September 21-26, 2026) 
  • spring residency will be held in Olomouc during AFO (April 26 – May 1, 2027).
 
3. WHAT PROJECTS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

3.1 Creative feature-length science documentary projects in development.

3.2 We welcome participants familiar with documentary film production and industry who are willing to learn more about the diverse ways to approach science.

4. KEY DATES

Application deadline: June 22, 2026

Publication of results: End of July 2026

Workshop dates: 

  • September 21-26, 2026 (Statek Salajna, Dolní Žandov)
  • April 26 – May 1, 2026 (during AFO in Olomouc).

5. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

5.1 Proficiency in English

5.2 Requested materials submitted prior to the deadline

5.3 The team (director and producer) has to take an active part in all the workshop stages at both of the residencies.

5.4 Exceptions to the conditions mentioned above can be decided only prior to the selection process. Please contact us with such requests at camp@afo.cz.

5.5 A contract will be signed with each selected participant following their acceptance.

6. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

6.1 Please note that the following materials will be required to complete the application:

Logline (max. 200 characters) 

Short synopses (max. 400 characters) and long synopsis (max. 700 characters)

Treatment (max. 2500 characters)

Director´s Statement (max. 2000 characters)

Trailer, sample video

Filmmakers’ video pitch of the project

Simple budget (the selected participants will be asked to provide a more detailed budget prior to the workshop)

Director´s and producer´s photo

Stills or other visual material (animation or graphic elements) related to the project

7. DATA PROTECTION

By submitting a project, you accept our data protection policy in accordance with the GDPR.

8. CONCLUSION

By submitting a project the applicant agrees with all the above-mentioned regulations.
