Jan Hlaváč

Organic chemist and vice-dean for communication and external relations.

He is a graduate of the Analytical Chemistry department at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc. In 2015 he became a professor in the field of organic chemistry. His research focuses on the development of new synthetic methods usable for the preparation of organic compounds, the synthesis of compounds with antitumor activity, systems for targeted drug delivery and monitoring their release. Recently, his research group has been dedicated to the development of new fluorescent probes for the detection of various biochemical processes and the presence of relevant biomolecules inside cells. Until January 2026, he worked at the Faculty of Science as vice-dean for science and research, and now serves as vice-dean for communication and external relations. In his free time, he seeks new challenges in the field of marine animal care, construction, completion, reconstruction and demolition of family houses or adjacent buildings, and the development of his physical and mental capacities for comfortable survival in today’s times.
