Václav Liška

Head of the Laboratory of Tissue Regeneration and Cancer Treatment at the Biomedical Center of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pilsen, and the National Cancer Institute

Václav Liška decided to pursue surgery—which is crucial in cancer treatment—while still a medical student. His team strives to integrate research from many fields—including surgery, experimental research, pathology, molecular biology, tissue engineering, and software modeling. Recently, he has been focusing primarily on the construction of artificial organs (liver, blood vessels, bile ducts, etc.) for potential transplantation in human medicine. He is also investigating, among other things, the significance of the transcriptome, proteome, and microbiome for the development and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
