Chris Manias

Chris Manias is a historian based at King’s College London in the United Kingdom, where he is Senior Lecturer in the History of Science & Technology and co-lead of the Environmental Humanities network. 

He is a specialist in the history and cultural impact of the environmental and deep-time sciences, and their connection with politics, colonialism and environmental change.  His most recent book is The Age of Mammals: Nature, Development and Paleontology in the Long Nineteenth Century.  As well as that, Chris is involved in a number arts and community collaborative projects thinking about the cultural role of palaeontology and other evolutionary and developmental sciences, and their relevance to many challenges that we now face.
