Joshua M. A. Chawner

A stop-motion animator and scientific documentary filmmaker with focus on experimental physics.

He started making his own stop motion videos at the age of 12 and after a few years his video started gaining popularity on YouTube. Now, together they have amassed over 150 million views from all over the world. His film stories are created primarily from LEGO bricks as those allow to create the mise-en-scene, figurines and stop-motion on one’s own in a limited time. He has a doctorate in physics from Lancaster University and has actively conducted research in physics for several years. Besides animation, he now creates scientific documentary films which help him stay in touch with the academic world. He currently works in his studio which is part of the Make North Docs community in Liverpool.
