Peter Coffin is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores conceptual points of view that invite inquiry and new perspective. Coffin’s expanded body of work includes sculpture, 2D art, film and video, sound art, installation art and curatorial projects. Playful ideation is a hallmark of Peter Coffin’s art utilizing culture, science, language, and modes of representation, to examine meaning and apperception. Coffin has mounted solo art exhibitions at the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C., the Center d’art Contemporarian in Ivry, The Barbican, London, City Hall Park, New York City, the Aspen Art Museum, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Fribourg, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, and le Confort Moderne, Poitier among others. His artwork has been featured in museum exhibitions around the world and international biennials in Berlin, Belgrade, Liverpool, Moscow, Trentino and Yokohama. Coffin’s art is in the permanent collections of the MoMA, NY, the Guggenheim Museum, NY, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, the French National Arts Council Collection, and the Museo Jumex, Mexico City.
